NZOQ Lifetime Achievement Award 2010

The purpose of the NZOQ Lifetime Achievement Award is to recognise persons who have contributed in an outstanding way to the application of effective quality management in New Zealand. Candidates will be persons whose life-long careers have had a significant impact on field of quality management, whether locally or internationally. These individuals have the potential to be/are roles models and inspire others.

Eligibility

Nominees for this award:

  • Do not have to be a current financial member of NZOQ
  • Will have made outstanding contributions to improving quality management, quality practice and/or quality education/training
  • Will be a living role model in the fields of quality management, quality practice and/or quality education/training
  • Will have played a leadership role in NZOQ or other related activities
  • Will have future plans of the individual to benefit NZOQ and the field of quality management , quality practice and/or quality education/training
  • Will be a New Zealander or permanent resident

Please note that nominators are not excluded from eligibility and members of the Award Committee and National Executive/Board are not eligible for nomination.

Form

Award would be in the way of a certificate, or a plaque [duly engraved] (or something else to be determined once the award is in place).

Frequency

Normally, the award is made to one person each year. If two or more candidates in any year are considered equally worthy of the award, then the Award Committee has the power to recommend that more than one award for that year be made for that year. If in any one year, no candidate is deemed to be of a standing meriting the receipt of the award, the Committee has the power to recommend that no award be made that year.

Procedure for Nominations

Nominations of a candidate for the award require one sponsor who shall be an NZOQ member. Nomination forms must reach National Office by 31st August 2010.

Criteria

The sponsor shall submit all supporting documents likely to be of assistance to the Award committee. In particular, evidence in support of each of the following criteria is required:

  • Meritorious service to NZOQ or Quality as a whole
  • The direction of important work in the application of quality management, quality practice and/or quality education/training in New Zealand
  • Outstanding contributions to training of Quality practitioners
  • Leadership of an industry or industries into good quality practice
  • The publication of articles and books of merit on quality
