Lynley Coburn
My first work in quality began back in 1991 when there was a significant increase in emphasis on quality-related requirements in the health sector. And not long after that I was elected to the NZOQ Board as the national Health Sector representative.
At a local level I am involved with NZOQ Canterbury branch and have held most roles of office – currently as Vice-Chair and events co-ordinator. As other NZOQ branches, we work hard at delivering value to our local membership with a varied programme of events to promote networking and provide learning opportunities.
Seeking variety and diversity, I reduced my hours with the Canterbury District Health Board to three days a week, allowing the development of a variety of contracted services – to NZOQ and other organisations – largely in the areas of education and auditing
My contract work with NZOQ supports my continued involvement in providing value to those of you who are passionate about quality and increasing the learning opportunities available to members and their staff. NZOQ training reflects current quality practice to equip students to meet the quality requirements of their organisation. Students and employers both gain benefits from the practical quality improvement projects in many NZOQ courses. Student feedback and their successes in local and National Quality Award programmes show that NZOQ quality training is making a positive difference throughout New Zealand.
The health sector faces increasing quality requirements and in my employment with the Canterbury District Health Board, I am deeply involved in developing quality and audit systems to meet the many external requirements - and importantly, improving the quality of service delivery to those people using our service.
I would like to represent you and seek your vote to continue these roles for the membership of NZOQ by serving on your Board during 2010.
