Northern Branch
CQA Certificate Presentation
The CQA certificate presentation ceremony for the 007 CQA graduates was held on 17 March at Botany Downs.
Most of the graduates and their families turned up for this ceremony, which commenced with light refreshments followed by a stimulating speech by our Key Speakers: Leisa Nathan from Principle and Andrea Anderson, Business Manager for OCHRE Business Solutions Ltd. This was followed by the presentation of certificates. It was indeed very pleasing to note such a good turnout of both CQA graduates and their families at the ceremony. Many expressed their sincere gratitude for making it a special occasion and a truly memorable one!

Chairperson’s Report – 2006/2007
Andrew Wills, Chairperson – Northern Branch NZOQ
This past year has seen some successful events held by not only the Northern Branch but by NZOQ National Office.
In May 2006 we hosted a site visit to Coca Cola. This was well attended by approx 30 people.
In August we hosted a full day quality seminar with speakers from St John Ambulance and the Defence Force as well as speakers on risk management and litigation.
December saw several members attend the World Quality Congress in Wellington. Feedback indicated that this was well received.
March 2007 – CQA certificate presentations. Our guest for the evening was Gerry Ruffell talking on Quality being a way of life.
I wish to thank the rest of the Northern Branch committee for their efforts during this past year. Thanks to Lil, Bob, Ceillhe, Tony and Siham – you have all done a great job.
This year has also seen the launch of the NZOQ re brand. There was much input into the marketing of this and it is believed that we have now brought the organisation in the 21st Century. However, it is also believed that there are benefits to being a member of NZOQ but at the writing of this it is unclear what these specifically are. Members need to know why they should belong to the organisation, what is in it for them? We are great at the CQA education and the quality in healthcare etc, but what else do we offer our members? Here in the Northern Branch we struggle to get members to events, are members wanting events or are they wanting support and if the latter, what sought of support? These are the questions that we as an organisation need to answer. We are a membership organisation and need to know what the members want – we have started and need to continue.
But again I wish to say that the re branding and the setting up of strategic planning groups by the new board, is setting us on the right path as we go forward and celebrate 30 years as an organisation of quality.
